A Year in a Day... A Look back at 2016

As 2016 recently came to a close, & we headed on into 2017, the staff here at Omega thought it would be the perfect time to take a look back over the last twelve months & pick out some of the highlights the Omega team had experienced! From charity events, to new installs, to new product releases & much more, it's clear that 2016 was a whirlwind year, so why not take this whistle stop tour of some of our best bits?

January 2016

In January, we eased ourselves back into the new year with a new lease of life; 2015 had been good, but 2016 would be better! We'd celebrated Christmas with a packed schedule, & now the sales, accounts, engineering & technical teams we're ready to make some headway into the new year! We started the next twelve months off by releasing our brand new educational video to help prospective, new & existing clients alike when it came to choosing the security system to suit them & their needs. With this under our belts, we worked hard to ensure nothing would be overlooked in 2016!

February 2016

In February, big things were happening in the background for Omega Security; we'd been awarded our KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) with Leeds Beckett University, & had subsequently recruited Simon Renault, who is currently working alongside Omega to develop a new & innovative product, which will one day become a key player in the bespoke services & resources we have on offer to our clients.

March - April 2016

As we finally hit Spring & the warmer weather, we celebrated birthdays galore & secured ourselves some recognition for the charity work we'd been a part of, on top of carrying out a number of installs for customers including JD Gyms, 24/7 Fitness & Places For People. Our Finance Director Rebecca helped raise over £300 for Overgate Hospice in their 'Strictly Learn Dancing' challenge, & Omega were thrilled at the opportunity to go & offer support in the audience. A little closer to home, the office was filled with good cheer & we celebrated not one but two birthdays in the month of April, but as you can imagine, the cake didn't hang around for long! Omega were also awarded certification as recognition for the work carried out alongside AgeUK, a charity very close to Director, Sherry's, heart, so spirits were high as we rolled into May!

May - June 2016

May saw new partnerships being built with us joining forces with iDefigo to provide their new Redeye Wireless Camera to new & existing customers, further expanding our products on offer. It was also a great month for installs, as we completed our work at Places Gym, Preston, providing them with state of the art entry & exit pods, adding that extra level of security to keep their facility protected. June was a busy month as our Director Sherry was stationed at IFSEC 2016, at ExCel London, meeting other security suppliers & finding out about the new security technology on offer in the fast moving & ever growing world of Access Control & CCTV. (New friends were also made at IFSEC in 2016, even if they were of the feathery kind!)

July - August 2016

July was another month in which new partnerships were set up, as we joined forces with Automatic Systems to provide clients with new state of the art FirstLane Security Turnstiles which offer maximum security whilst blending seamlessly with modern design meaning they're perfect for new state of the art facilities. More innovation took place as we fortified Guildford Spectrum's facilities with a sophisticated Access Control system, below, to provide a seamless solution to their building. Back in the office, the sales & marketing team worked tirelessly to launch our brand new website, which launched in August, & we finally reached 600 followers on Twitter!

September - October 2016

September was a busy month for our three apprentices as it meant it was back to college for the start of the new year. More charity work took place as we slept with Simon on the Streets in Leeds to help raise money & awareness for this amazing charity who works tirelessly to support people who may not have access to standard services, The initial target of £150.00 was smashed, with £260.00 being raised in total, & alot of fun was had along the way! Our Director, Sherry, created this diary video to outline just what went on, & how the money raised helps others. In October, our very own blog was officially launched with our Pumpkins & Pets Halloween Competition, & we spent a fantastic day at Aerial Extreme doing team building exercises, whilst also welcoming Intern Alex into the Omega group!

What a team!

November - December 2016

In the last final push of the year, a feather was added to Omega's cap as we bagged the Axis IP Approved Installer certificate, verifying us as installers of this particular piece of equipment & thus expanding our portfolio of new products & technology on offer to both new & existing customers. With the final main install of the year taking place at Manchester College, we closed 2016 with a fun & memorable Christmas party at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, which was celebrated with family & friends; It really was a perfect end to a wonderful year, & a chance for everyone to let their hair down with their colleagues before leaving for the holiday period!

A final word...

All in all, looking back, 2016 really was a wonderful year, & Omega are grateful for not only the opportunities the team have had, but also the challenges faced, because without those, we wouldn't appreciate the successes. Finally, there's just one final thankyou to be made to both our existing clients & social media family, as without you, Omega wouldn't be here!

Here's to 2017...
